Thursday 9th of July 2020

Unsure what I headed to into History today, end up learning about the 1970s, and how eye opening it was. But before learning about the 1970s, we had our first introduction to everyone in our class. I learned that some of us are here for not just a here to learn how to animate or film, there is a story behind each person. Which I'll keep in mind when proposing for the exhibition in Professional Practices paper.

So our tutor for the day was fabulous Kathryn Mccully, gave us a presentation of the 1970's and this is my bullet-notes from it.
  • Punk movement - 1970s
  • Clockwork Orange - banned in most of NZ in the cinemas
  • Car-less days- cartoon- one day that not allowed to drive
  • The Runaways - Punk rock music
  • Ads- sexism was okay, but made me so uncomfortable.
  • Womans' rights movement
  • Judy chargo, woman excluded from art history
  • Feminist artists shinned/talked about more
  • The shining by Stephen king was published.
  • Saturday Night fever - John Travolta
  • Food
  • Cars- Ford Mustang
  • Skateboarding
  • David Bowie
  • Watership Down -Rebelling, Political, Courage, fear, dark and morbid "Very like our Human life"
  • First fast foods Wendy's
  • Platform shoes- Not just women, but men too with jumpsuit
  • Makeup more than less
  • Sleeping Dogs - New Zealand Film Roger Donaldson
  • Abba

Homework for the afternoon/evening is to make and present a presentation of the 1970s, recommended 10 sides, shown on Friday.

I did try and get some work done at home but unfortunately this came up, so I couldn't work on my presentation, but instead I jot down some information in my presentation in my journal.

I like to theme the presentation on the researched about the revolutions in 1970's, and how to art impacted with it. So the women's rights, anti-war march, gay rights, etc. Here is my jotted down notes for the research.

Shown below is my finished presentation: shown on the Friday 10th of July 2020

(Notes for self, probably practice how to say the big words like revolution, cause when you are nervous you stutter and get a bit tongue tied)
